Sugar Cookies

Here's that sugar cookie recipe that some of you requested........
The BEST Sugar Cookies You Will Ever Make
3 cups sugar
1 1/2 cups shortening
3 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3 Tbsp. vanilla
2 cups milk
9 tsp. baking powder
10 cups flour
***************************************
Roll out to about 1/4" thick (not too thin - you want them nice and fluffy). Cut in to shapes. Place on greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 7-11 minutes. The edges will start to turn golden brown, but don't over cook. The tops will still be white. Ice immediately. If you use the icing recipe below I like to just dip the tops of the cookies and then put on cooling rack and let the icing drip through the rack. I sometimes dip them twice for extra sweetness! If you are going to let kids use sprinkles and decorations, store-bought icing works better. *Disclaimer: the home made icing is better tasting though*
ICING:
1 cube butter
1 bag powdered sugar (I think it's 2 lbs)
Dash of Salt
1/4 tsp. vanilla
Enough milk to mix (not too much) - approx. 1/4 cup
Microwave until runny and spreadable.
Color if needed.
These sugar cookies are the BEST! The above recipe makes a ton of cookies, so I usually freeze half the dough and icing, and use it for the next time I need a sugar fix. ENJOY!! This recipe is from my mom, whom I believe got it from Zona Ashcroft.

This is from Zona. In fact I remember her making me some of these cookies to take to my class party one year. Then mom started making them. SOOOOOO yummy! there are certain reason as to why I don't make them often... . I eat to many of them myself.

I have never been successful at making sugar cookies--I'll have to try these! If the recipe's from Zona it's got to be good.
