Our shelter-in-place has been the cabin. We go up for 2 weeks at a time, come home to mow the lawns (while we have renters at the cabin) and then go back up to the cabin again. It's pretty great. The boys have been scheming up plans to build their own little cabin in the woods for months, so that project finally got started.
We found a fairly level spot down the trail and the boys started clearing it out. EVERY single piece we had to haul down in the Mule. It's been a great project for them to work on while we're at the cabin.
They want it to be completely theirs, so they are paying for all the materials as well. It's been a good lesson in spending. All of a sudden they care about how each piece of wood is used.
Adam's done the majority of the labor on this thing, but it's been a good lesson for the boys in how to build something from scratch and the importance of accuracy. :)
Hauling more supplies down the the Bear Den.
Celebrated Adam's birthday. We sure love this man and ALL that he does for us.
Made my mark in the footings of the boy's den.
The always anticipated Grandma Linie's Easter package. I think they devoured ALL the candy in less than 10 minutes. :/
Grant made this sign with my wood burning kit for their fort.
Took Noah and Ava to find some snow up by Mt. Shasta. It was a warm day and didn't require any snow gear. My kind of way to play in snow!
Noah mainly wanted to throw rocks in the slushy lake.
Getting closer. Pretty much any spare moment between work and school we helped the boys on this thing.
Ava's given up on doing her hair during quarantine.
Found these 2 huge moths the same day, both missing an antenna. They were able to die with dignity on our bug board. ;)
Back home for Easter where the kids did a little egg hunt and got a few goodies in their Easter baskets.
Swimming finally started mid-April.
Plate of colorful beets ( and a few parsnips).
Ava likes to dress Nala up in crazy things.
One day the kids were turning their rooms into 'houses' and made rules and consequences for violations. They decided each violation required a court hearing. Almost immediately Noah was accused of taking a picture of Ava's ID (which they also made) and was summoned to court (the boy's room). Adam was the judge and had to hear both sides. Noah was sentenced (which they kids came up with the punishment) to 10 minutes chained to Nala's fence. :) Love when they play nicely together. Also a great homeschool lesson on court, justice, laws, etc.
Back to the cabin. Cute little workers getting their deck on.
We finally started seeing friends a little and invited the Wassoms to join us at the cabin. Jared does fun/elaborate treasure hunts for the kids. They're trying to figure out the first clue. They love it.
Our Sunday afternoon drive took us to Faery Falls.
Impromptu snowball fight.
Jared caught a bunch of fish, and everyone was enthralled watching him gut and fillet them all. Then we enjoyed fish tacos afterward. Yummy!
