October

I really hate the new blogger platform.  These uploaded in reverse order and I don't want to fix it, so end of October to beginning.  The kids, and few friends, went trick-or-treating and got TONS (20# between the 3 kids) of candy.  They figured out the most efficient routes and stuck to the routes (Adam helped them map it out a weeks before Halloween).  This is the end of the night sorting stations.

Ava's pumpkin and werewolf costume
Noah's pumpkin and goat costume.
Grant's pumpkin and cyclops costume.  Noah and Grant were going to be sign spinners (the people that advertise for companies on the corner and spin signs), but they didn't get their signs done.
Carving pumpkins.  Power tools are the best pumpkin carvers.
We went camping to Blue Lake Halloween Eve.
We had a great time camping and being with friends.
Since all parties and activities were cancelled due to Covid we decided to do a fun Halloween dinner. We did dry ice soda, watermelon brain, witch finger breadsticks and purple eyeball spaghetti.  The kids decorated the table and loved all the details.

Noah's gotten really good at Rubik's cubes and decided he wanted to try it blind folded, so he put glue dots on each side to feel it. :)

Our friends decided to meet at a park and do an impromptu trunk-or-treat.
Getting the last few swim days of the year.  I think we swam until a couple days before Halloween.
Went on a fun hike to a swinging bridge.

Ava and Grant started their orthodontics journey.  They are both doing invisalign instead of braces.  Ava will be done in 9 months and Grant has to do 2 phases, so he has 8 months and then in another year he'll have another 8 months or so.  They are being surprisingly responsible with their retainers, keeping them in, and not losing them.

Ava got really into face painting during October and painted our faces one Sunday.
She roped her friend into painting her face too.
Going down the river at Lake Shasta again.  The kid's new favorite thing to do there.
Tried double surfers.
Hiked down to our creek (tiny stream at the moment) and explored possible paths we can cut in.

Ava and Noah still sleeping outside at the cabin.
Explored a new-to-us waterfall near the cabin.

The boys trying to make a kite on a windy day.
Topgolf for PE.
Grant likes to be snuggled right next to us, or on top of us. Sunday naps with Grant. :)
Church and activities resumed for a few weeks in October, so Adam had his deacons over for a camp out (all the campgrounds were closed).
Pumpkin patch
We ran into some friends at the pumpkin patch.
Ava and I shared this monster (frozen apple cider, ice cream, whipped cream, caramel and a carameled apple). YUM!

Gorgeous bobcat caught on the trail cam.
Ava really improved with surfing this year.
Noah got a little crazy on the 4-wheeler this year.  He's too big for that little 4-wheeler (I think he's tipped it a few times).

A bear getting up close an personal with one of our cameras.
Our friend was at the cabin trying to shoot a bear (he shot at one from our deck and just skimmed one, but didn't kill it), so he was letting the boys try out his rifle.
Going down the river again.

Your Halloween feast, thats what dreams are made of. I was thinking the other day about how I kinda feel sad for Walter and Jack. I used to be a fun creative mom, now our Elf Archie doesn't even come anymore. I need to step up my game. Bring the magic back to the Holidays.
