Never Ending Bathroom Remodel

Before we left for Florida we had our shower hot mopped.  Yeah, I'd never heard of it before too.  Since our shower is not a standard size, we couldn't use a pre-made basin.  So to make sure the water doesn't penetrate the floors or walls, they hot mop it.  Basically they lay down shingles (used for roofing) and then tar the floor and walls. I tried to make some "doors" because the guy said it can get stinky and smokey.  It did smell like a freshly laid tar road upstairs, but it only lasted a few hours.
The tar machine.  The kids thought is was neat - maybe because they got to watch a movie in the middle of the day, so they would stay out of the guys way.  He was a little nervous about having them in the house.  He was carrying hot tar up and down the stairs, so I understood his hesitation.

The finished results.  Crazy, huh?!   The backer board went on the floors next and then we left for Florida.  The tile is all done now (still need to grout), but I haven't taken pictures yet.  Cabinets SHOULD be going in tomorrow, so we're getting there.
I made the pocket door (pat myself on the back) while Adam was at work.  It looks simple, but I misread the instructions, so it turned out more difficult than it should have been.   Adam hung it and finished sheet rocking before we went out of town.  Now we have LOTS and LOTS of plastering to do - I can hardly stand the excitement I'm feeling right now.

Pocket doors, really. I had know idea you could whip that out. You should consider going into business. This family has an excellent track record of successful businesses

This definitely makes me glad we don't have any major remodeling needs. It's going to be awesome when it's done though!
